Step back into “Old Yellowstone” ambiance at the Madison Hotel. Constructed in the early 1900s, this historical landmark quickly grew to include 28 rooms, a dance hall, and bar while hosting Presidents Harding and Hoover, Clark Gable, and Gloria Swanson. The historic hotel, featuring a lobby preserved with original furnishings, still offers clean and comfortable rooms May 25 to October 5. Visitors are welcome to tour unrented rooms before 6 PM. For those seeking a quaint place for the night, the West Yellowstone Hostel at the Madison Hotel is ideal. The hostel, housed within a cozy log hotel, provides public restrooms and showers, non-smoking rooms, and private rooms with or without bathrooms. The hostel’s common rooms treat guests to a microwave, refrigerator, cable TV, Internet, and free coffee and hot chocolate. Located on-site with the same operating schedule as the hotel, the Madison Motel provides economical lodging with non-smoking, clean rooms that include showers and cable TV. Deluxe rooms feature queen beds, tubs, and air conditioning. Public phones are available, and the motel is within walking distance to restaurants and local activities. In 1959, the hotel’s downstairs’ rooms were replaced with what is now recognized as one of West Yellowstone’s largest gift shops. The famous family-oriented Madison Gift Shop carries a unique selection of moderately priced souvenirs, gifts, collectible t-shirts, and more. On your next visit to Montana, discover Yellowstone the way it used to be with a fascinating stop or overnight stay at the Madison Hotel, Motel, Gift Shop, and West Yellowstone Hostel! |
