Constructed in 1908 as an outpost for patrolling soldiers, the Museum of the National Park Ranger is situated near the Norris Campground entrance. Although the structure has been rebuilt, it still features several of the original building materials and the original floorplan. Inside, visitors are treated to exhibits and a video tracing the history of the National Park Service and the life and duties of park rangers. Retired National Park Service employees voluntarily staff the museum and are happy to field visitor questions. The museum is open 9 AM to 5 PM daily from the park’s opening through late September.
